Oil scheme members make great savings
ORCC Trading’s last oil order was the biggest yet, as members got their tanks topped up ready for the winter. In total, we ordered over 110,000 litres of oil, at a price 4.03p per litre lower than the average price on the day. That means our members saved a massive total of £4,433 in just this single order.
As word about the scheme spreads across Oxfordshire’s rural communities, the numbers of both community co-ordinators and members are increasing rapidly. Forty-eight communities now have co-ordinators in place; which means that in their villages, we have the means to be able to offer our great savings to local oil users.
And it isn’t just in Oxfordshire that news of the ORCC Trading oil scheme is attracting notice. Rural Community Councils across England are now following in our footsteps and setting up equivalent schemes in their own counties, so we have been kept very busy helping them to get up and running before the winter.
This is all great news for our members – the more members we have, the stronger the scheme – and great news for Oxfordshire Rural Community Council, to which the membership fees are beginning to make a very welcome contribution.
IF YOU are from a community where lots of people rely on oil, and where there isn’t a local co-ordinator, why not volunteer? Details of the co-ordinator’s monthly tasks are explained on the web page Bulk oil buying scheme as is the list of villages where we have coverage.
If your village isn’t on it, you’re missing out!
