HEARSAY!
Oxfordshire LINk’s model of engagement work –
Come and ‘Hear’ what people have to say
Come and have your ‘Say’!
Following the LINk's first successful Hearsay! event in 2010, focusing on social care services, our event in 2011 was held to find out if things had changed for the better and also to ask guests what they wanted Social and Community Services to work on this year. We wanted to tell people what had been happening since the first Hearsay! We also wanted to ask people what they wanted to talk about and ask the Council to work on this year. We gave people the chance to raise any other issues and made a commitment to listen to everyone. We invited the guests who attended last year and also other people who are in receipt of adult social care services from the council.
The LINk looked through all the comments that were made on the day and pulled out 5 key priorities by which things were most frequently raised and most important to people. We also considered the comments and views we had received prior to the event and from people who could not attend but wanted to contribute.
We sent these priorities to the Council, who have responded with how they will make changes, detailed in an action plan.
