Here is a "Quick Start" account of the process. on the other resource pages there are fuller accounts of how other people have got going and some examples of wording for emails, leaflets and posters shared by group organisers.
- Get together with a friend or business colleague and share out the tasks
- Create a simple poster and flyer with your contact details
- Make a list of good places to put up posters
- Make a list of other channels of communication e.g. email bush telegraph
- Put up a notice in public places such as your local shop, post office, pub, library, school, church
- Inform and explain as you go about your normal village activities (dog-walking, shopping, collecting children) that you are seeking like-minded people and expressions of interest, so please pass on the word
- Let your parish/church/village newsletter or website know about the group
- Draw up an initial list of people you know who might be interested and contact them
- Give yourselves a deadline a few weeks ahead and then pool the names you have been in contact with
- Email the list and negotiate a date and time for the first get together
- Let other people know about the event with another public poster or notice
- Hold your initial meeting and decide on structure, frequency and activities
- Congratulate yourselves on having successfully launched a village business club!
