Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association

Welcome to the home page of the Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association (OPFA), an independent registered charity promoting good quality neighbourhood play and recreation opportunities throughout the county.

The aim of the OPFA is to ensure that people of all ages, including those with disabilities, living in urban and rural communities in Oxfordshire have access to good quality facilities for, and opportunities to take part in, a range of sports and recreational activities, including children's play, to meet local needs.

OPFA's services include:

  • Site visits to give on-the-spot advice on playing fields and playgrounds, including facilities for toddlers and teenagers.
  • Regularly updated information sheets covering a wide range of topics, including fund raising.
  • Expert advice on planning, refurbishing and maintaining children's play areas.
  • Support and advice on projects such as providing a new sports pavilion or sports ground, with local examples to assist you and local people to contact.
  • Practical demonstration of basic maintenance and inspection routines, including risk assessment and safety in the playground.
  • A free quarterly newsletter, The Playing Field, sent free of charge to the county council and every district, town and parish council in Oxfordshire.
